Jonathan Lopez is an associate attorney with Kasdan Lippsmith Weber Turner LLP in the firm’s Irvine, California office. His practice is focused on construction defect litigation.

Jonathan earned his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School in Costa Mesa, California, where he also worked as a Spanish Interpreter in the Children’s Rights Clinic, volunteered as Peer Advisor, served as Treasurer for the Public Interest Law Foundation, and was an active member in the Trial Advocacy Honors Board. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Chicana and Chicano Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Celene S. Chan
Celene S. Chan has achieved more than $70 million in settlements for her clients nationwide.

Admitted to practice in California and Hawaii, Celene oversees all aspects of federal and state litigation in trial and appellate courts.  She also has been appointed Class Counsel in state and federal court in Hawaii.

Celene’s practice includes class actions, mass torts, construction defect, intellectual property, entertainment, personal injury and general business litigation.

Celene graduated cum laude from UCLA in 2005 and received her Juris Doctor from UC Hastings in 2008.  During law school, she served as a judicial extern to the Honorable David A. Ezra in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii.  Following graduation, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alan S. Gold in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

In addition to the outstanding results achieved for her clients, Celene has received many accolades and honors from her colleagues.  The National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys named her a Top 10 Under 40 attorney for the state of California in 2015, a year after the National Trial Lawyers honored her as a Top 40 under 40 Attorney.  The Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine recently recognized Celene as a Rising Star.

Michael T. Kennedy is an associate attorney with Kasdan Lippsmith Weber Turner LLP in the Walnut Creek office. Michael has been involved in residential and commercial construction litigation for over 16 years. Michael’s experience and insight into the construction industry helps quickly identify building defects and the necessary investigation methods. This knowledge leads to concise investigations, which ultimately saves the experts’ time and this savings is then passed onto our clients.

He has tried over 20 construction defect cases as well as numerous binding arbitrations. Michael began his career representing builders and their insurance carriers. Michael’s extensive experience gives him unique insight into their strategies and approaches to defending and resolving construction defect claims.

He earned his Juris Doctorate from Western State University, College of Law. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California.

Michael was admitted to the California State Bar in 1998. He is licensed to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central Eastern, and Southern Districts of California.

Derek Scott

Derek has represented clients in complex litigation in numerous California state courts. He also has extensive experience in arbitration and mediation. After law school, Derek was appointed by the U.S. Court for the Central District of California as Clerk to the Special Masters in the Toyota multi-district litigation concerning unintended acceleration.

Michael J. White

Michael J. White
Michael J. White is licensed to practice in both California and Arizona. He has emphasized residential construction defect litigation, as well as homeowners association law, in his practice in both states. He has litigated numerous construction design and defect cases, involving condominiums, townhomes and single-family detached homes in both individual and class actions.

He has extensively litigated a full range of homeowners association legal matters, including the enforcement of CC&Rs, the validity of amendments to CC&Rs, voting rights and other general corporation issues. Michael has been a speaker at numerous construction defect seminars. He has also been involved in Community Association Institute activities and has presented numerous seminars on community association legal topics.

Michael is a contributor to the annual treatise supplements to Thomas E. Miller, et al., Handling Construction Defect Claims: Western States (third edition, Aspen Law, 1999). Jaclyn L.
